Chapter Eleven

Tuesday 15th August

I can’t believe I miss him. How pathetic is that? It’s only been two days but I long for him as if I haven’t seen him for weeks. I’m aware I’m being ridiculous, but it’s just... ugh, it’s just that being so close to him all weekend has given me a taste of what it would be really like to have him. To be with him properly. The damn guy has actually got me considering a relationship.

And it’s not like it’d be an easy starter relationship to consider. He’s said himself he’s a nightmare when he’s with someone. I mean, hearing about how his mum left makes me understand why he clearly has such abandonment issues. No wonder he’s possessive and clingy.

But is that what I want? Some clingy guy who’s going to suffocate me? I don’t think so.

The distance is also sure to drive him extra crazy. I don’t think I can cope with that. Not now, not ever.

My phone rings, flashing up with the private detective’s number. Shit the bed. Has he found something?

‘Hello?’ I answer eagerly.

‘Miss Archer, it’s Detective Maloney.’

Duh, I have caller ID, idiot. God, this is the guy I’m paying to investigate shit?

‘Yes. Do you have an update?’

‘I have information on your father. Can we meet?’
